Plato:
The knowledge of the name of a thing


Κρατύλος:
Διδάσκειν ἔμοιγε δοκεῖ, ὦ Σώκρατες, καὶ τοῦτο πάνυ
ἁπλοῦν εἶναι,
ὃς ἂν τὰ ὀνόματα ἐπίστηται, ἐπίστασθαι καὶ
τὰ πράγματα.

Cratylus:
I think, Socrates, their function is to instruct, and this is the simple truth,
that he who knows the names knows also the things named.
